“Moldova is on the United States' radar. This is Moldova’s chance to obtain more political and financial assistance from the US”, said political analyst Anatol Taranu, commenting on the US Vice President Joe Biden’s visit in Chisinau. Asked whether the American official’s visit in Moldova would influence the development of the Transnistrian conflict, he said that Joe Biden reconfirmed the United States' position, which is that Moldova’s territorial integrity must be respected. The analyst says things will become clearer when Barack Obama comes to Moscow. “The situation will be boosted and will become clear after Obama comes to Moscow, where he is likely to reach an agreement with the Russians on the Transnistrian issue. In Moscow, Biden just prepared Obama’s visit”, Taranu mentioned. As Joe Biden didn’t meet with the Moldovan opposition and didn’t even mention anything about it, the analyst thinks this was the US message that it doesn’t like PCRM. Considering that Joe Biden did meet with the political opposition in the Russian Duma, but didn’t do the same in Chisinau, this proves that the USA dislikes the communist opposition.
