The candidate of the Electoral Bloc “European People’s Platform of Moldova – Iurie Leanca” (PPEM) for the mayoralty of Chisinau Oazu Nantoi said the financial reports presented by the parties to the Central Election Commission (CEC) contain incorrect data and these resorted to double-entry bookkeeping or exerted administrative pressure in order to benefit from cheaper electoral services. He made such statements in a news conference held to sum up the results of the election campaign, IPN reports.
Oazu Nantoi said the PPEM paid 120,000 lei for placing 26 posters in the municipality of Chisinau during two weeks. The bloc’s costs all over Moldova rose to 223,000 lei. The parties that used hundreds of posters during two months reported much lower costs. The Liberal Democratic Party reported costs of 464,000 lei, the Party of Communists – of 663,000 lei, the Liberal Party – of 800,000 lei, the Democratic Party – of 835,000 lei. “The contestants lie. They either use double-entry bookkeeping or exert administrative pressure on economic entities so that these offer them free advertising places or at virtual prices. This means that these parties are corrupt,” he stated.
The candidate also said that according to the data presented to the CEC, at market prices these parties would have afforded to place 30 to 70 posters of standard size during two months of campaign. “Anyone who was in Chisinau these days could see that these parties have in fact hundreds of posters, including ones that are huge and cost thousands of euros a month,” said Oazu Nantoi, calling on the people not to vote for corrupt parties.
The bloc’s leader Iurie Leanca called upon civil society to attentively examine the financial reports and to impartially and professionally analyze the costs incurred by the parties during the election campaign.
