The Transnistrian conflict could be settled by this yearend if conditions are created in Chisinau for imposing the scenario wanted by Russia, political analyst Oazu Nantoi stated for IPN when he was asked to comment on President Igor Dodon’s statement that the Transnistrian dispute could be resolved in three years, made in Moscow.
“On the one hand, the conflict is not solved because the Moldovan rulers are faint-hearted, incompetent and corrupt. On the other hand, Russia controls the situation. If Russia sees that conditions are created in Chisinau for imposing the scenario wanted by it, why not? The conflict could be settled by the 100th anniversary of the great October revolution,” stated the analyst.
According to Nantoi, a possible scenario for three years envisions that the member of the Democratic Party Vlad Plahotniuc would destroy the opposition inside the Republic of Moldova. After the legislative elections of 2018, Parliament could be dominated by the Party of Socialists and the Democratic Party and these could ensure the adoption of this “super special” legal status related to the resolution of the Transnistrian conflict.
Oazu Nantoi considers the people witness impotently a scenario of transforming Moldova into a buffer zone between Russia and the West. The actions taken by President Igor Dodon in Moscow could lead to a rupture in the relations with the European Union, restoration of the “iron curtain” and transformation of Moldova into a pseudo-state by federalizing it, and Moldova would remain under Russia’s geopolitical control.
