Number of tourists to Moldova goes up

More foreigners visited Moldova last year compared with 2009. According to the National Bureau of Statistics, the number of tourists in 2010 was by 15.8% higher on a year before. At the same time, internal tourism fell by 4% in the period, Info-Prim Neo reports. Most of the tourists came to Moldova from Romania, Russia, and Ukraine. The country was also visited by citizens of Turkey, Germany, Italy, and the U.S. The lowest number of tourists arrived from Poland. Over 60% of the tourists came to rest and entertain and on business, while 6% to receive treatment. The number of Moldovans who visited foreign countries last year increased by 25% compared with 2009. Most of the Moldovan tourists went abroad on vacation. The Moldovans preferred Turkey, Bulgaria, Ukraine, Romania, Egypt, and Greece.
