The 2015 national campaign “Moldova’s children read a book” has come to an end. The most active readers from all the country’s regions came together in Chisinau to share their reading impressions and to discuss with author Aurelian Silvestru. The event was staged by the National Children’s Library “Ion Creanga” on December 11, IPN reports.

In 2015, the campaign “Moldova’s children read a book” was dedicated to the novel “Are you alone too?” by Aurelian Silvestru. “In the novel, the children discovered matters about which not even I thought,” said the author, noting that this fact motivates him to work more, to write books not only for children, but also for grownups. “If the children read, it means that the grownups also read,” he stated.

The campaign end-up event was attended by students from all the country’s regions. The young readers wrote essays based on the novel “Are you alone too?”. All the works were included in the collection “Magic of reading” that was launched in the event.

According to the library’s general director Claudia Balaban, the campaign is aimed at promoting valuable books among young readers. “They say that they do not read now and there is a crisis of reading. This is not true. It is actually a shortage of good books. The children register to get a good book to read it and wait for their turn. The books we include in the campaign are books that teach the children to love their language and motherland and help them to become better and be more intelligent,” she stated.

The campaign “Moldova’s children read a book” was carried out between January and December this year. It was intended for children aged between 14 and 17. Within the campaign, the school and public libraries promoted the books recommended for reading.
