Number of persons who enroll children to private schools is increasing

The number of parents who decide to enroll their children to private schools has increased. Compared with last year, the number of students in private lyceums is by 5.13% higher, show official statistics. The tuition fees are not capped. Every institution has the right to set them individually.
Tatiana Nagnibeda-Tverdohleb, head of the Chisinau General Division of Education, Youth and Sport, has told Info-Prim Neo that they supervise only the education process at these schools. They are checked in the same conditions and in the same period as the state education institutions. They must respect the same obligations imposed by the authorities in the education system.
Principal of the private lyceum “Columna” Ghenadie Danita said that the average tuition for a year is the equivalent in lei of €850. Investments are made in modern instruments that ensure education services of a high quality and enable to increase the number of hours for teaching certain subjects.
Ümit Öz, director of the private lyceum “Orizont”, said the tuition fees at their school are €1,700. If the students study well, win places at Olympiads and prizes at different contests, they benefit from discounts. According to the director, the private schools offer more possibilities and conditions for the students to achieve results. The classes include at most 22 students and there are electronic boards and laboratories for every subject.
“Evrica” lyceum principal Nadejda Sulim said their tuition stands at €1,800 a year. The classes consist of 10 students who can remain at school to do their homework until 18.00.
In Moldova there are 15 private education institutions with about 4,000 students.
