Number of people suffering from acute respiratory infections is increasing

The number of children and teenagers affected by acute viral infections of the respiratory system in the municipality of Chisinau has increased by 8.7% this week, Info-Prim Neo reports. Constantin Manic, medic hygienist at the Chisinau General Division of Education, Youth and Sports, at a meeting of the Division on April 18 said that the number of such diseases this week has increased among all the age categories. The number of cases among children younger than two rose by 33% to 63 cases, as opposed to 108 last week The number of viral infections among children aged 3-6 increased by 165 cases, while among children aged 7-16 by 10% to 272 cases, as against 245 cases last week. According to the cited source, the number of mumps cases is decreasing. Some 180 cases of mumps have been reported this week, in contrast to 240 cases last week. About 81,232 children and adolescents have been vaccinated against mumps until present. This is 62.55% of the total number of persons that must be immunized.
