As many as 236 persons remain in 22 hospitals of the country after suffering food poisoning at an event organized by the Democratic Party (PDM) at the summer camp “Dumbrava” in Peresecina village of Orhei district. There were recorded 317 cases of food poisoning there. A number of 71 patients were discharged from the hospital and will be supervised by doctors at home, while 10 persons refused hospitalization, IPN reports, quoting a communiqué of the Ministry of Health.
In the August 25 meeting of officials of Chisinau City Hall subdivisions and municipal services, deputy chief doctor of the municipal Public Health Center Mihail Palanciuc said the firm that provided the food in June was authorized to prepare food and serve 80 persons, but the event staged by the PDM involved about 2,000 people. The given company does not have a catering authorization. The thermal conditions were not respected when the food products were transported. The food was prepared by eight persons. Three of them do not work legally at the firm, while one person of the five employed officially had the hygienic training certificate expired.
As a result, the canteen was closed and all the supplied products were withdrawn from use. The administration will be fined. The participants in the event were examined and the lab results will become known this week.
