Number of offences related to trafficking in human beings has increased in 2006

During the past year law enforcement bodies have tracked down 468 offences related to trafficking in human beings, compared with 397 discovered in 2005. These are the data announced during the session of General Prosecutor’s Office.
In 2006 there were 315 cases related to trafficking in human beings sent for examination to national courts, among which 141 were related to trafficking in human beings, 52 cases of trafficking in children, 101 cases of pandering, 20 cases of organisation of illegal migration and one case related to organisation of beggary.
The past year courts have condemned 173 persons for committing this kind of crimes (against 102 in 2005), among which 62 for trafficking in human beings, 85 for pandering, 7 for trafficking in children, 13 for initiation or organisation of beggary, 4 of them for organisation of illegal migration and 2 of them for forced labour.
