Number of Moldovan millionaires on the rise

As many as 191 Moldovans declared incomes of over 1 million lei for last year at the Main State Tax Inspectorate. One year ago, the official number of millionaires was by 11 persons lower, IPN reports.

The figures were presented in a news conference at the Main State Tax Inspectorate on April 5. The highest salary income declared by a private individual was 6 million lei. The same figure was announced in 2011.

The average age of the Moldovan millionaires is 48 years. The youngest millionaire is 24, while the oldest one is 82. 73% of the persons who declared incomes of over 1 million lei are men and, respectively, 27% are women.

A number of 159 of the 191 millionaires have the residence in the municipality of Chisinau. Seven persons are from Balti, while the others are from the districts of Ialoveni, Anenii-Noi, Cahul, Causeni, Criuleni, Edinet , Falesti, Floresti, Hancesti, Orhei, and Ocnita.

According to the State Tax Service, its subdivisions received 215,000 income statements for 2012, by 669 more than in 2011. The number of private individuals who presented income statements in electronic format increased from 1,224 persons in 2011 to 1,421 persons in 2012. 10,000 private individuals used the fast-track tax returns service.

The amount of retained tax in 2012 was 1.97 billion lei, up 12.57% on a year before.
