Number of mobile phone users in Q1 up 8.4%

The number of mobile phone users in the first quarter of this year rose by 8.4% compared with the corresponding period last year, to 2.792 million. Out of them, 96,000 were users of mobile broadband Internet services that are provided through third-generation communication systems, Info-Prim reports, quoting a communique from the National Regulatory Agency for Electronic Communications and Information Technology. The clients of Moldcell increased in number by 18,600, of Orange Moldova – by 1,000, while of Moldtelecom, the brand Unite, decreased by 500. Early in April, Orange Moldova had 1.827 million users, Moldcell – 864,600, Moldtelecom – 100,500. The sales in the mobile phone services sector in the first quarter grew by 22.6% compared with the the same period last year, to 761.4 million lei. The sales of Orange Moldova rose to 565 million lei, of Moldcell to 173.1 million lei, while of Moldtelecom fell to 23.3 million lei.
