The number of people who had free surgery for stroke in the first half of 2022 doubled compared to the same period last year. 42 patients had access to minimally invasive operations covered by the mandatory health insurance scheme.
The surgeries were performed with state-of-the-art equipment and technologies within the special program “Interventional treatment in acute ischemic CVA”.
The National Health Insurance Company CANM says that it has allocated almost four million lei for such operations, including three million for the expensive instruments and consumables used in the interventional treatment of stroke.
The minimally invasive operations were performed in two public medical institutions contracted by the CNAM: the Institute of Emergency Medicine, and the Institute of Neurology and Neurosurgery.
In 2022, a total of 7.7 million lei is planned for stroke surgeries.
