Minister of Health, Labor and Social Protection Viorica Dumbrăveanu said the number of children infected with the novel coronavirus has increased. According to the Ministry’s data, almost 1,700 minors have contracted the virus so far, IPN reports.
The minister noted that given such developments, the Focal Point in its recent meeting considered the possibility of increasing the number of beds intended for minor patients.
As of August 3, the patients with light forms of COVID-19 who meet the hospitalization criteria are admitted to the Ialoveni District Hospital, where 60 beds were made available. Twenty-one of them have been occupied.
Patients in a serious and very serious state, who suffer also from other diseases, are taken to the Saint Trinity Municipal Clinical Hospital, which is the second hospital activated on August 3. Eighteen patients have been admitted by now to this hospital that has 180 beds available, 18 of which for intensive care.
According to the minister, measures are taken depending on the epidemiological developments. “I call again on the population to obey the protection measures. Each of us can contribute to saving lives,” Viorica Dumbrăveanu wrote in a posting on the Ministry’s Facebook page.
By August 3, Moldova has got 25,482 confirmed cases of COVID-19. The death toll exceeds 800. So far, 17,942 persons have been cured.
