Number of applicants for compensations for heat has halved

About 12,000 families on low incomes from the municipality of Chisinau have submitted applications for compensations for heat for the 2010- 2011 hearting season, Info-Prim Neo reports. Under an order made by Mayor General of Chisinau Dorin Chirtoaca, the persons who received social benefits the previous years have to present only an application confirming that they are in a difficult financial situation. The applications for allowances for paying for public utilities and for the consumed natural gas, wood and coal must be filed by October 15. As many as 11, 823 confirmative applications and 1,372 new applications have been submitted so far. A number of 30,136 families with a monthly income lower than 1,450 lei have filed applications for compensations for heat, natural gas, wood and coal during the 2009-2010 heating season. About 40 million lei have been allocated from the municipal budget for paying such compensations.
