The number of acute diarrhoea cases caused by spoilt foodstuff, unclean fruits or dirty hands has almost doubled compared with the cold season of the year, doctor-coordinator of the Chisinau Emergency Service Eufalia Negreata told Info-Prim Neo. Eufalia Negreata says that the number of cases might increase if the population does not respect the basic rules of preventing toxic alimentary infections or other digestively transmitted diseases. To avoid these diseases, Negreata recommends to prepare the food less than 3 hours before its consumption if the food cannot be kept in proper thermal conditions. The products that will be eaten 3 hours after cooking must be kept at 4-8 °C. Moreover, Eufalia Negreata, affirms that cooked and unprepared food should be kept apart. Besides that, all the fruits and vegetables, even the freshly picked ones must be washed. The consumption of produce sold on the street should be avoided. In case of having acute stomach aches, diarrhoea, nausea, vomiting, headaches, one must urgently address to a doctor, Eufalia Negreata said. The previous day alone, 13 children and 9 grown-ups required the help of the emergency doctors, having acute diarrhoea.
