Number of accidents and deaths at work is alarming, Labor Ministry

Over 600 work accidents happened in 2009 and the first five months of this year. They resulted in 46 deaths. Minister Valentina Buliga considers these statistics of the Labor Inspectorate are alarming, the Ministry of Labor, Social Protection and Family says in a communique, quoted by Info-Prim Neo. Most of the accidents at work in 2009 occurred in agriculture, forestry, constructions and trade. The risks at the workplace should be assessed and the employers and employees should be sensitized to the dangers and security at work, the communique says. According to statistics, one person dies at work every eight workdays in Moldova. 2.5 serious work accidents or accidents that result in temporary work incapacity are reported daily.
