NOW’s main course of action today is to get the mixed voting system annulled and trigger snap elections that are conducted under a fair system, the electoral bloc’s MP Octavian Țîcu told an interview with RFE/RL Moldovan Service. However, Țîcu revealed the bloc would participate in the incoming Parliament’s inaugural meeting and propose a candidate for the Speaker’s post.
“We will have our own candidate (for Speaker). Yet the business of government and of Parliament will be centered not so much on the people nominated for Parliament’s leadership, including the Standing Bureau, but rather on the agendas put forward by every political actor”, said the MP.
Țîcu says NOW has a very clear vision of what needs to be done in the justice system and this starts with the dismissal of the prosecutor general and the heads of the Superior Magistracy Council, the Anticorrution Center and other bodies. NOW could achieve that, maintains Țîcu, by getting Parliament to officially declare that Moldova is a captured state, and then officials could be dismissed by Parliament either all at once or individually. “This is an extraordinary measure, given that we witness an absolutely extraordinary state of captivity in this country”, declared the bloc’s representative.
He went on to add that NOW doesn’t mean to be in opposition. According to him, all the three major parties that entered Parliament have equal chances and each put forward its political offers, two of them including geopolitical variations. “NOW has put forward a de-oligarchization proposal. And so, we have equal chances, every side has the ball now and every actor fights for its right to form the government”.
