The snap parliamentary elections of July 11 de facto represented the third round of last year’s presidential elections, while the monopolization of power by one party is a problem for the democratic processes in the Republic of Moldova. Not Maia Sandu won, but Igor Dodon lost these elections, said experts invited to a TV program, who were quoted by IPN.

According to civic activist Igor Tuleantsev, together with the taking over by PAS, the decisions in the Republic of Moldova will be powerfully influenced from outside the country. Igor Dodon is to blame for the failure of the political left in the July 11 elections. Igor Dodon is associated with corruption in Moldova and this is the reason why PSRM lamentably lost the government.

“Not Maia Sandu won, but Igor Dodon lost the elections. Regrettably, Dodon fully discredited the left, while Maia Sandu extended her electoral support to the left. If Dodon hadn’t competed in these elections and there had been only a bloc of the forces of the left, Maia Sandu wouldn’t have achieved such a result. Now that PAS took over, the decisions will be taken not in the Government or Parliament, but at the head offices of the Western embassies,” the activist stated in the talk show “Friday with Anatolie Golea” on RTR Moldova channel.

Ex-Communist MP Alexandr Petkov said PAS gained more power than it can manage and the government’s failures will be seen soon. People’s enthusiasm and the enormous credit of trust given to this party will fade away.

“We had not parliamentary elections, but the third round of the presidential elections actually. Therefore, the victory belongs not to PAS, but to Maia Sandu. It’s clear that it will be impossible for them to implement their electoral program as all their campaign promises are populist and undeliverable. The power was monopolized and this is a problem,” stated Alexandr Petkov.

As a result of the snap parliamentary elections of July 11, PAS gained 52.8% of the poll and 63 seats of MP, BeCS – 27.1% and 32 seats, while the Shor Party – 5.7% and six seats.
