The residents of Chisinau municipality who possess sealed water meters with valid metrological certificates and who will monthly report the real volume of water consumed will not have to pay for additional volumes of water, which would be indicated in the water bills. This is provided in an order issued by the mayor of Chisinau, IPN reports.

In a news conference on January 23, Dorin Chirtoaca said the invoicing company IM “Infocom” will divide the undistributed water volumes existing in apartment buildings between the end-users who do not have water meters and those with defective water meters, meters without seals or without the mandatory metrological certificate expired, but not more than 2 cubic meters of drinking water a month and 1 cubic meter of hot water.

As regards the end-users who indicate zero consumption in the invoices, these will have to inform the housing sector manager about the reason why they didn’t consume water until March 1, 2015. From March until June, the water suppliers, together with the managers, will inspect these blocks and will establish the cause on the spot.

By letters, the housing sector managers will recommend the owners or lessees of apartments without water meters to install such meters so as to ensure rational consumption and economize on water. The mayor said the problem of undistributed water meters will be solved when the central authorities work out and approve regulations that will enable to fully implement the Law on Public Water and Sewerage Services that was passed in December 2013 and other normative documents needed to manage the housing sector.
