On Monday, 10th of April, a delegation from North Carolina headed by the State Secretary, Elaine Marshall visits Moldova, according to a communiqué of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration. Representatives of the local government, business and academic environment, charity organizations, as well as the members of the National Guard form this delegation. The main purpose of the visit is to participate, together with Moldovan partners, at the works of the Annual Meeting of the Bilateral Cooperation Committee Moldova – North Carolina. The works of the meeting will be structured in four sub-committees – academic and educational, commercial-economic, cultural and humanitarian. The discussions will be based on optimizing the relations set at local and institutional levels. The American delegation is planning to meet with the representatives of the Parliament and the Government, and to visit several enterprises of the food industry, social assistance and medical institutions that benefit of assistance provided by the North Carolina partners. The partnership with this American state was launched in 1999 and is based on the Cooperation Memorandum between Moldova and North Carolina, signed in 2004. The ground of the cooperation relations between Moldova and North Carolina was established in 1995 by settling certain relations between the Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Moldova and the National Guard of the North Carolina.
