Mayor general Ion Ceban said that inspections and audits are required at the Central Market. “We are carrying out an internal audit that revealed a disastrous situation there. On the other hand, we also want an external audit as a result of which we could find solutions that would be applied in relation to the Central Market,” Ion Ceban was quoted by IPN as saying in the talk show “Moldova Live” on Moldova 1 channel.
According to the mayor, none of those who now hold posts at the Central Market should remain there given the disastrous situation at the market, the municipality’s failed revenues and the fact that there are even privatized sidewalks on the market’s territory.
Ion Ceban said someone should answer for all these illegalities. The Chisinau City Hall can notify the law enforcement agencies that will take action.
In a news conference two days ago, councilors of the Action and Solidarity Party (PAS) said the deputy head of the Central Market Lilia Buștiuc misuses public funds. According to the head of the PAS group on the Chisinau Municipal Council Vasile Grădinaru, the illegalities are tolerated, while mayor Ion Ceban does not want an authentic reform at the City Hall and just wants to place loyal persons in posts.
