The Association Agreement with the European Union, which Moldova signed on June 27, will be debated and subject to ratification in Moldova’s Parliament on July 2. Such a decision was taken by the Parliament’s Standing Bureau, IPN reports. The agenda of the sitting will include only the ratification of the accord, while voting will be nominal.

Speaker Igor Corman voiced hope that all the lawmakers will vote for the ratification of the agreement. “I want to believe that other colleagues of mine will be ultimately able to vote freely. I would make this call to the political leaders who haven’t yet declared that they will support the accord. I think it would be fair if they allow all the MPs to vote as they want. If this happens, we will have more votes in favor of this accord,” he stated.

Within a survey conducted by IPN among lawmakers, more than 51 of the MPs said they will vote for the ratification of the Association Agreement with the EU. The document can be ratified by a minimum of 51 votes.
