No more live transmissions from Parliament sittings

The sittings of the Moldovan Parliament will no longer be broadcasted live on a compulsory basis on the national radio and TV stations. Sources from Parliament told Info-Prim Neo that this provision is part of a bill that will be proposed for consideration in one of the following sittings. The draft law intends to amend the art. 82 of the Parliament Regulations, according to which plenary sittings, except for the secret ones, may be broadcasted live on national radio and TV stations, in compliance with the provisions of the Audiovisual Code, or at Parliament’s initiative, by simple majority of votes. The cited sources claim that the bill was registered on Monday, March 19, being signed by the communist MP Victor Stepaniuc and the representatives of the Christian-Democrat Party Iurie Rosca and Stefan Secareanu. The draft has already been given the go-ahead from the Parliamentary Committee for Human Rights and the Legal Committee. Live broadcasting of plenary sessions was initiated at the beginning of the present legislature’s mandate.
