No import authorizations for poultry will be issued until July

The authorities will not issue authorizations to import poultry until July this year. Such a decision was made at the meeting of the Board on Product “Poultry, Eggs and Processed Products” of the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industry, Info-Prim Neo reports. The poultry breeding companies will be obliged to provide separately, each month and each quarter, information about the production volume for 2009, which would enable to make forecasts. According to the Agriculture Ministry, the import authorizations for poultry will not be released because there is sufficient meat on the home market and the national producer should be protected. The poultry breeding companies produce about 27,000-29,000 tonnes of meat a year.
