More than 70 electoral concerts have been staged over the last three weeks, but no election runner reported costs for organizing them to the Central Election Commission and for paying the artists taking part in them or the representatives of parties who distribute leaflets. Of the total expenditure reported by the election runners, 85.2% represented expenses for publicity, while about 13% for transport, IPN reports.

When presenting monitoring report No. 3, compiled by “Promo-LEX” Association, financial analyst Catalina Calin said the Democratic Party (PDM) organized electoral concerts in at least 38 settlements, the Liberal Democratic Party (PLDM) – in at least 35, the Liberal Reformist Party (PLR) – in at least two, while the Communist Party (PCRM) – in at last one settlement.

None of the parties and independent candidates running in the elections reported costs for renting offices and maintaining the head offices even if the observers of “Promo-LEX” established that at lest 226 locations have been used for electoral purposes.

According to the report, two election runners are still tempted to offer electoral presents, including the PDM and PLDM, even if the Election Code bans this practice. The presents included humanitarian aid, sports equipment and books. The observers identified at least 18 cases of use of administrative resources by the electoral contenders.

The report shows that 743 people contributed over 29 million lei to the election campaign. Only the PCRM transferred own money of the party to the electoral fund. The Liberal Party, the People’s Force Party and the Party “Democracy at Home” presented financial reports with zero incomes and expenditure.
