On New Year’s Eve, access in the Great National Assembly Square with alcoholic beverages will be forbidden. Those who want to meet the New Year there will be allowed to drink only mulled wine, which will be sold in the square, Info-Prim Neo reports.
Municipal police chief Silviu Musuc said at the City Hall meeting that access in the Square will be available through 11 checkpoints. “People with forbidden objects and alcoholic drinks will not be allowed in the Square”.
Mayor Dorin Chirtoaca thinks that a bottle of champagne on New Year’s Eve would do no harm. “I have a suggestion: take a bottle of champagne, write mulled wine on it and you’ll be allowed to pass”, joked the Mayor. “When I was young, I celebrated the New Year’s Eve in Chisinau and in Bucharest and I always came with a bottle of champagne. Obviously, we mustn’t transform the holiday into debauchery”, he added.
