Nistru war veterans call upon the voters not to support the Party of Socialists’ candidate for President Igor Dodon in the runoff elections. The veterans said the Socialist leader is a discredited figure who makes only false statements and wants to become a dictator.
In a news conference at IPN, Anatolie Caraman, chairman of the War Veterans Association “Tiras-Tighina”, stated that the veterans fought to free the country from the Russian occupation and now candidate Igor Dodon poses a big threat to Moldova’s statehood. Moreover, this can cause a hybrid war inside the country. Dodon makes all kinds of dirty statements about Romania, which is Moldova’s partner and constantly provided assistance, including for repairing kindergartens and building the gas pipeline, through the SMURD and other projects.
Anatolie Caraman said Igor Dodon is the one who splits the nation, attacks the unionists and recently attacked even ex-President of Romania Traian Basescu, stating that he will withdraw Basescu’s Moldovan nationality if he is elected President of Moldova. “Dodon also said that he will destroy the unionists, but can a President destroy 30% of the own people?” asked Anatolie Caraman, noting that the people must not vote for a skillful liar.
In the same news conference, head of the public association “Honor, Dignity and Homeland” Vlad Biletski said the electors should no way vote for Igor Dodon also because this attacked directly the association he represents and tried to hinder a number of activities carried out by its members. The leader of the Socialists wants to intimidate the unionists and to frighten them so that the people are afraid to say that they speak Romanian and to carry the tricolor with dignity.
Ion Savin, chairman of the Orhei veterans organization, said Igor Dodon created problems to himself by saying all kinds of things about Romania and Ukraine before becoming Head of State. Dodon wants to become a dictator and makes radical statements, including that he will denounce the Moldova – EU Association Agreement. The major called on the people to mobilize and vote in elections, but not for Igor Dodon.
Head of the local veterans association of Cimislia Gheorghe Balaban called upon the young people to vote for Maia Sandu because she is the only one who can ensure Moldova’s bright future.
