General Ion Costas gathered in a tome 4 difficult years of Moldova's history. The book “Transnistria 1989-1992: the chronicle of an undeclared war”, in Romanian version, was launched on Thursday in Chisinau, Info-Prim Neo reports. The General said he wrote about uncomfortable truths and forgotten problems. Ion Costas wrote the book for 2 years. Initially it was published in Russian and then was published in Romanian by the Bucharest-based publishing house RAO. “The book was popular like hot cakes in Bucharest”, said Costas during the book launch in Chisinau. Writer Nicolae Dabija remarked on this occasion that he met Ion Costas at a party meeting and saw him in the center of the gathering reading demonstratively the newspaper “Literatura si Arta”. “Ion Costas has a biography worthy of a Romanian. His parents were deported, grandparents executed and he grew up in an orphanage”, said Dabija. He added that the war on the Nistru River wasn’t over yet. “When we obtained our independence, those from Transnistria were too lazy to learn Romanian and declared war on us. In order to understand what really happened there, we must read Costas’ book”, said the writer. The book “Transnistria 1989-1992: the chronicle of an undeclared war” contains both witness accounts and archive documents.
