The deputy mayor and acting mayor of Chisinau Nistor Grozavu didn’t have the right to name deputy mayors of Chisinau as this is stipulated nowhere in the legislation. Such an opinion was stated in the talk show “Key issue” on NTV Moldova channel, IPN reports.
Socialist councilor on the Chisinau Municipal Council Alexandr Odintsov said the legislation says nothing about the possibility of the deputy mayor, who serves as mayor general on an interim basis and is under investigation and admitted his blame for committing particular violations, naming the deputy mayors and another acting mayor. “We fully disagree with this. We consider the citizens of the municipality were deprived of the democratic right, guaranteed by the Constitution, to choose the mayor,” stated the Socialist.
He noted that the Party of Socialists is preparing a challenge on this case to the Constitutional Court as it considers that the appointment was unconstitutional.
Journalist Valerii Demidetskii said that all the inhabitants of Chisinau were affronted by such a decision. “We again reached a situation of election campaign and the ideal consensus between parties, which could be a start of the purification and an attempt to build new relations is not possible in this situation,” he stated.
On November 6, ex-president of Gas Natural Fenosa Silvia Radu and municipal councilor Ruslan Codreanu were named deputy mayors of Chisinau by order of acting mayor Nistor Grozavu. Also, Nistor Grozavu issued a statement, informing that he delegates his duties of acting mayor to Silvia Radu.
