A prosecutor from Nisporeni will stand trial for passive corruption. A person complained that the prosecutor asked for €1,000 from him for closing the criminal case started against him and his partner over theft, IPN reports.
According to the Prosecutor General’s Office, the prosecutor was arrested in the afternoon of February 7, immediately after he took the money.
This is the third prosecutor arrested so far this year for acts of corruption. In January, there was arrested a prosecutor from Ocnita and another one from Floresti. They are investigated under arrest. The Supreme Council of Prosecutors decided to suspend them from posts.
The Prosecutor General’s Office announces that cases of corruption involving employees of the prosecution service can be reported on the green line (022) 226-648 and directly at the Anticorruption Prosecutor’s Office on (022) 257-407.
