Ninety-two calls to Human Rights green line over two months

The operators of the Human Rights green line /0 8001 2222/ recorded 92 calls during two months. In ten cases, there were reported violations of the constitutional right to life and physical and psychical integrity, Info-Prim Neo reports, quoting a communique from the Center for Human Rights.
According to ombudspersons, the most relevant cases are the maltreatment of a minor by employees of the Police Commissariat of Leova district and the use of violence against a minor at the Police Commissariat of Basarabeasca district.
The doctors found injuries on the body of the Leova minor. The minor from Basarabeasca complained that he was detained in the street, taken to the police section and beaten with the nightstick.
Ombudsman Anatolie Munteanu investigated the given case. As the acting prosecutor said, the boy was not mistreated and detained illegally.
The Center for Human Rights’ green line was opened on July 1, 2009 with the support of the Torture Prevention Project financed by the European Union and co-financed and implemented by the United National Development Program.
