The high temperatures contributed to an increased number of appeals for medical assistance from the very street. Seventy-five calls on average are registered daily. About 400 people in Moldova suffered from heatstroke since the start of the hot period. Ninety-five of them have been hospitalised. According to the National Scientific-Practical Centre of Emergency Medicine, the number of appeals rose by 15% from 16 to 25 July. About 3,000 persons are given first aid every day. The Ministry of Health warns that danger of heatstroke will persist. Doctors recommend respecting the rules for protecting from high temperatures – to drink at least three litres of water daily, to keep out of the sun, to wear hats and sunglasses. The heatstroke hits first of all the small children, the elderly people and the obese persons, as well as the people suffering from cardio-vascular diseases. A doctor should be called in case of splitting headaches, nausea, dizziness, weak pulse and frequent breathing.
