Nine regional development projects of the 29 approved for implementation until the end of 2013 will be finalized in July this year, reports Info-Prim Neo, citing a press release from the Ministry of Regional Development and Constructions. Minister Marcel Raducan declared during a meeting of the National Council for Coordination of Regional Development that this year the regional development agencies would manage to use all the financial means allotted from the National Fund for Regional Development in 2012.
Head of the regional development division Valerian Banzaru said that Center, North and South Regional Development Agencies were actively running public acquisition procedures in order to manage to contract and use the money in time. According to him, 60% of the sum planned for the first half of the year was used. The reasons for which not all 100% has been used include the participation of unqualified companies in tenders, the lack of coordinated technical documentation and the entrepreneurs’ failure to respect the work schedule.
Sergiu Cecan, head of the division for relations with regional development institutions, announced that shortly the reception of the wastewater treatment station in Calarasi would be finished and the station would be put into use. Similarly, the procedures of the following projects will be concluded: the drinking water utility in Manta, Pascani and Crihana Veche villages, Cahul district; the drinking water and sewage utility in Cimislia town and Ecaterinovca commune; the aqueduct and treatment station in Otaci; the regional international road M14 in Edinet; the access road to the Free Economic Zone in Balti Municipality and waste collecting platforms in several localities.
The National Fund for Regional Development receives 1% of the State Budget. In 2012, it totaled at 168 million lei.
