The Moldovan children suffering from autism will be supported financially. In order to raise funds, the International Women’s Club of Moldova (IWCM) invites to the 10th sale and charity exhibition Night of Art, IPN reports.
In a news conference, the Club’s president Marie Moser, the wife of the U.S. Ambassador to Moldova, said the event has a double goal: to support the rehabilitation of autistic children and to promote culture in Moldova by exhibiting local works of art.
Works by over 80 painters and craftsmen of Moldova will be displayed at Moldexpo in the evening of April 5. Moldovan artist Alexei Ostapenko is the symbol hero of this anniversary edition. His painting “A mouth of life for tomorrow” defines the conception of the charity event, which renders homage to the artist who died in 2011.
A ticket to the exhibit costs 100 lei. The proceeds and the money paid by the artists for renting the area will go to the beneficiary that was selected by a commission of the IWCM. This is the NGO “SOS Autism” that supports the families with autistic children. The public association was founded by a group of parents with children suffering from autism in 2008.
The raised funds will be used to set up the first center for autistic children in Moldova – Center of Resources for Autistic Children. “SOS Autism” aims to create a center that would provide a wider ranger of services, not only therapy for children, including training of the personnel and teachers, discussions with parents and printing of books. “The center will be a visiting card for engaging the authorities in supporting children suffering from autism,” said Aliona Dumitras, the representative of “SOS Autism”.
”It would be a pity to pass by these persons when we know that we can help them,” said Moldova’s First Lady Margareta Timofti, who supports the charity event.
The about US$8,000 collected during the Night of Art last year was given to the Oncology Institute. The money was used to purchase equipment for correctly dosing equipment in the treatment of leukemia.
