The Republic of Moldova’s road to the big European family has one direction – modernization and acceleration of our reform agenda for ensuring the prosperity and wellbeing of all the Moldovan citizens, Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration Nicu Popescu noted in a meeting with the High Representatives of the EU for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Josep Borrell and European Commissioner for Neighborhood and Enlargement Olivér Várhelyi, IPN reports.

“The irreversibility of the European integration process necessitates greater support and targeted investments for ensuring economic recovery, building resilience, ensuring political cooperation and participation in the EU crisis management missions, fighting disinformation and taking measures that would ensure increased cybersecurity,” Nicu Popescu posted on Facebook.

In another development, Nicu Popescu said that despite the challenges caused by the sanitary, energy and economic crises, the Republic of Moldova assumed responsibility as a neighboring and friend country by making common cause and promptly identifying solutions for managing the inflow of Ukrainian refugees.

The official expressed his gratitude to the European partners for the swift response to the Republic of Moldova’s request for aid and for offering the necessary support through the EU Civil Protection Mechanism. Austria, Finland, France, Sweden, Greece, Lithuania, the Netherlands and the Czech Republic are among the many states that announced assistance for the Republic of Moldova.
