Nicu Popescu to pay working visits to Estonia and Latvia

Deputy Prime Minister Nicu Popescu, Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration, will be visiting Estonia’s Tallinn and Latvia’s Riga during January 4 and 5, IPN reports.

On January 4, the official will meet in Tallinn with his Estonian counterpart Urmas Reinsalu with whom he will discuss the bilateral cooperation agenda, the European integration of the Republic of Moldova, the reform process in the country and the regional situation influenced by Russia’s war against Ukraine. The interlocutors will consider methods of strengthening the bilateral relationship, especially in the areas of digitization and cybersecurity.

The Moldovan official will also have meetings with Minister of Defense Hanno Pevkur, chair of the parliamentary foreign affairs committee Andres Sutt and with the representatives of the International Center for Defense and Security Indrek Kannik and Kristi Raik.

On January 5, while in Riga, Nicu Popescu will meet with his Latvian counterpart Edgars Rinkēvičs, Deputy Speaker Zanda Kalniņa-Lukaševica, chair of the foreign affairs committee of the Saeima Rihards Kols and deputy chair of the European affairs committee Uģis Rotbergs, and also with Jānis Sārts, director of the NATO Strategic Communications Center of Excellence.

In the afternoon of the same day, the Moldovan official will give a news conference together with his Latvian counterpart Edgars Rinkēvičs.
