Deputy Prime Minister Nicu Popescu, who is in the United States on a visit, said the strategic Moldovan-American dialogue contributes to strengthening the democratic institutions and fighting corruption. It also helps advance the justice sector reform, improve the investment climate, develop infrastructure and strengthen Moldova’s energy security and resilience. The statements were made in a meeting with U.S. Secretary of State Anthony Blinken, IPN reports.
Upon his arrival in the U.S., Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration Nicu Popescu said that during the visit, they will make effort to revitalize the Moldova-U.S. strategic dialogue and will reaffirm the commitment to implement an ambitious reform agenda in the Republic of Moldova with the support of the partners from the U.S. “I will have a series of meetings with government officials so as to strengthen the cooperation relations and to explore new opportunities for the benefit of our citizens,” stated Popescu.
The visit to the U.S. marks the holding of the thematic joint working groups within the Strategic Dialogue between the Republic of Moldova and the United States organized on the occasion of the celebration of the 30th anniversary of the establishment of the Moldova-U.S. diplomatic relation. In Washington, the Moldovan official will have meetings with high-ranking officials, representatives of the business community, civil society, think tanks and with journalists.
