In the coming weeks, the Minister of Foreign Affairs has scheduled visits to Washington, Moscow, Berlin, while officials from several European countries are expected in Chisinau. The statement belongs to the head of the Moldovan diplomacy Nicu Popescu, who, in a video interview given to IPN Press Agency, also stated that the institution headed by him wants more contacts with Ukraine.

"We expect the visit of the Romanian Foreign Minister in Chisinau, we expect a visit of the French Minister for European Affairs. Ukraine had parliamentary elections at the end of July and I hope that in the next two weeks a government will be formed, in order to start working at full speed, as we have been cooperating with Romania,” said the foreign minister.

Nicu Popescu said that, unlike during the previous governance, the Foreign Ministry’s situation changed and the doors of many states have opened for the Republic of Moldova. "The trajectory of the Republic of Moldova was a negative one three months ago. Many capitals have shut the doors in the face of Moldova. These were not merely symbolic, but practical gestures as well. The European Union stopped the financial assistance to Moldova, the US Development Agency froze the proposal of new projects. The doors to the outside, that were closed three months ago opened,” said Nicu Popescu.

The Foreign Minister said that the institution's task is to manage the relations with neighbouring countries, so as to open the borders of other countries to tourists, but also to businessmen from Moldova.

"The second task of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs is to attract investors who create jobs, and to attract external assistance. The function of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs consists in facilitating these contacts”, said Nicu Popescu.
The Foreign Minister also mentioned that, being a small country, it is very important for Moldova to have an effective foreign policy.
