Judoka Nicon Zaboroshchuk beat Russia’s Denis Kalinin at the Grand Prix of Zagreb, but then lost to the future winner of the competition in the 81 kg class, Attila Ungvari of Hungary, IPN reports.
Another two Moldovan judokas were eliminated after the first fight. Denis Vieru (66 kg) was defeated by Portugal’s Joao Crisostomo, while Norin Tatarescu (73 kg) lost to Andrea Gismondo of Italy. In the 66 kg class, Sergiu Oleinic, who represents Portugal, reached the final.
The tournament was a training stage before the U23 European Judo Championships that will take place in Montenegro this November.
