The head of state must act as an arbitrator for the leaders of the ruling parties and to form a kind of environment for the political negotiations between them, political analyst Bogdan Tirdea stated for Info-Prim Neo. According to him, such a proposal was formulated in a meeting with President Nicolae Timofti and opinion leaders.
“The President was urged to assume the role of leader in re-forming justice and in covering the path to European integration, to use the exiting levers and make the leaders work within the alliance, to state his stance more often, to give grades, and to support a leader or another,” said Bogdan Tirdea.
He also said that the topics discussed in the meeting with the head of state included the political situation in the country, the Presidential Office’s performance and the steps that must be taken to amicably solve conflicts. “Most of the experts said the Alliance for European Integration is in the process of dismemberment. It no longer exists and cannot be reanimated and there is no need to do it. Other experts said that in the current form, the alliance does not have an alternative,” stated Bogdan Tirdea.
According to him, the AEI cannot be reanimated as the state institutions were appropriated, are corrupt and work by order. “The leaders cannot stand each other. How can they work together? But there is foreign pressure and maniacal insistence to maintain the power and this will make the leaders to co-exist, at least until the Vilnius summit,” said Bogdan Tirdea.
The analyst believes that the political crisis will reach a climax only when certain key positions are yielded up, including at the Prosecutor General’s Office, the National Anticorruption Center, the State Tax Inspectorate, and the Supreme Court of Justice. “The alliance will break up completely when these posts are lost. The interests are considerable. Those who control these positions want immunity,” said Bogdan Tirdea.
