Nicolae Timofti, the presidential candidate of the Alliance for European Integration, is a docile servant of the mafia in Moldova, the leader of the Anti-Mafia Movement Sergiu Mocanu said in a news conference on March 13. According to Mocanu, Nicolae Timofti has served the mafia system since he started to work in the judiciary, being a subordinate of Deputy Speaker Vlad Plahotniuc, Info-Prim Neo reports. “Many describe him as an integral person, but he is the most docile servant of the mafia in Moldova. He showed this during his entire life, especially over the last year, when Nicolae Timofti was the ‘cover’ for all the raider attacks staged,” said Sergiu Mocanu. He also said that March 16, when presidential elections will take place, may become a black day for the people involved in trials and for businesspeople. “If Nicolae Timofti is elected President of Moldova, the 20-year concubinage of the political class and the judiciary will end with a ‘marriage’ that will represent the end of the fight against this state,” said the leader of the Anti-Mafia Movement. Sergiu Mocanu also said that Nicolae Timofti cooperated in the past with the Security and Information Service and was a denouncer and influence agent. He suggested the press to ask Nicolae Timofti about this. “He should make a public statement and assume responsibility for what he says. If he says that he did not cooperate, revelations will start to appear. If he admits, we will have what to discuss as this will be a stain in his biography. If he does not admit, he will have to discuss with the prosecutors later,” he stated. The leader of the Anti-Mafia Movement does not believe that the President will be elected on March 16. “Dodon left the Communist Party in order to try to convince Voronin that he is better than Tkachuk from outside the party. Dodon will take a decision (about the voting for or against the President, e.n.) only after he speaks with Voronin,” said Sergiu Mocanu. According to him, there are persons inside the AEI who will not vote for Nicolae Timofti. The 58 lawmakers of the AEI put their signatures in support of Nicolae Timofti. The President of Moldova is elected by 61 votes of MP.
