Nicolae Timofti acclaimed by people

The new President of Moldova Nicolae Timofti was acclaimed by the people who staged a peaceful protest in support of the Alliance for European Integration in front of the Palace of the Republic, where a special sitting of Parliament was held to elect the head of state. “Thank you for your support and confidence,” Nicolae Timofti told the crowd. The leaders of the alliance went out and gave by a speech before the demonstrators, Info-Prim Neo reports. Nicolae Timofti said that he will promote reforms and the people’s interests. “We must bring home those who went abroad. We must have a free country with established rule of law,” he stated. The Liberal-Democratic leader Vlad Filat said that Moldova has a President who will bring the country into the European family. “We will continue the reforms so that we join the European family and live better in our own country. We elected the President of Moldova!” Vlad Filat exclaimed. The chairman of the Democratic Party Marian Lupu said that March 16 is a big day in Moldova’s history. “We scored a great victory by electing the President. We brought a long period of uncertainty to an end. Today we will make a new start. Three is yet a lot of work to be done,” he said. The Liberal Party head Mihai Ghimpu said that they elected a good President. The people chanted “Victory!”, “Prosperity!”, and “Timofti, President!”.
