The State University of Medicine and Pharmacy “Nicolae Testemițanu” was accredited by the World Federation for Medical Education. On June 19, it received the international accreditation certificate that is valid for five years, IPN reports, quoting a press release of the institution.

The university’s rector Ion Ababii said their institution took one step forward and this proves the quality of the programs of study and all the activities performed by it. “We are honored to have achieved such a result and will make all the necessary efforts to further meet the international standards,” stated the rector.

The international accreditation process was launched this March and consisted of a number of stages. During June 3-5, the commission of foreign experts carried out the final assessment at the university, based on the WFME standards following the preliminary examination of March-May. In this connection, the commission’s president Bahyt Kosherova noted the high qualifications of the university’s staff. “We ascertained that the university’s personnel are united and abide by a correct strategy and policy concerning quality assurance in all the directions of activity. You deserve to be among the leading higher education establishments in the country and surely abroad,” stated the expert.

The commission recommended creating an all-inclusive university hospital for developing students’ practical dexterities, giving the students psychological tests on admission, extending the student academic mobility programs, tending to self-financing on the distribution of resources so as to also remunerate the teaching staff for achieving better results in training.

The accreditation of the World Federation for Medical Education certified both the sustainability of medical education programs and the medical institutions’ capability of providing high-quality training, which are elements that secure the confidence of patients and qualified practitioners.

The State University of Medicine and Pharmacy “Nicolae Testemițanu” is the only medical education institution in Moldova with a history of over 70 years.
