Nicolae Gaiduc ranked 106th in 15km free cross-country skiing at the Olympic Games of PyeongChang.
The 21-year-old athlete finished the race almost ten minutes behind Switzerland’s Dario Cologna, who became Olympic champion in this distance for the third consecutive time. Gaiduc, who is from Ungheni, covered the distance in 43:43.3 seconds.
“It was a very difficult race. I can say that it was the hardest this season for me. The itinerary was challenging. I’m disappointed with the result as I can do better, but I’m happy that I made my debut at the Olympic Games,” Nicolae Gaiduc stated for IPN.
The 15km free cross-country skiing race involved 119 athletes from 62 countries.
