Nicolae Dandiș won elections in Cahul according to preliminary results

Independent candidate Nicolae Dandiș, who is the former mayor of the municipality of Cahul, won the mayoral election in Cahul according to the preliminary results, with 73.63% of the poll or 7,279 votes. All the 14 voting reports have been processed, IPN reports.

The Party of Socialists’ candidate Marcel Cenușa finished third with 19.49% of the ballot or 1,927 votes.

Under the Electoral Code, a candidate for mayor needs to gain more than half of the valid votes cast to be declared the winner.
