By his visit to Chisinau, the President of the Senate of Romania Nicolae Ciucă transmitted a message of continuity and assurance of support that Romania offers to the Republic of Moldova on its path of European integration. When making statements for the press, the Romanian official said it is very important to explain to everyone the benefits of being a member state of the EU, IPN reports.

“At the moment, there is now this part of direct contribution by which our country undertook with technicians, with experience to help implement the nine recommendations of the European Commission. The assessment will be carried out in the immediate period. We hope it will be a positive assessment and in autumn the Commission will transmit its own assessments and recommendations so that a political decision for opening the accession negotiations is adopted by the Council in December. It is absolutely necessary for the Republic of Moldova to benefit from this decision as this represents nothing but establishment of coherence in the accession process,” stated Nicolae Ciucă.

He noted that the Republic of Moldova has potential. There are opportunities and they must be presented and guaranteed by political stability, predictability and perspective for the business community. “We undertook in the immediate period to ensure guarantees for the investors that are already present in Romania for an extension in the Republic of Moldova. This economic growth of the Republic of Moldova is needed so that it could align itself in all the technical approaches it already adopted in the accession process,” said the Romanian official.

For his part, Parliament Speaker Igor Grosu underlined the importance of the technical assistance offered by the Senate of Romania, by the Chamber of Deputies. “But we also look into the perspective of the decision to open the negotiations, when we will need to hold broad negotiations on the 33 chapters, where Parliament, alongside the executive, has a lot of work to do,” stated Igor Grosu.

“In two days, we will celebrate the one-year anniversary of the granting of the EU candidate status. Many were skeptical about such a possibility two years or a year and a half ago. But with concerted effort, with the unconditional support of Romania, which is the staunchest advocate in our European integration agenda, we will also achieve the European integration objective,” said the Speaker.
