Romania openly supports Moldova and Ukraine in their European aspirations and the progress made by these two countries on the path of reforms is visible, but this road is not easy at all, the President of the Senate of Romania Nicolae Ciucă stated at the Black Sea and Balkans Security Forum, which is taking place in Bucharest, IPN reports.

“In the Black Sea region, Ukraine fights for democracy and freedom, to defend the rules-based order and the security of us all. The accession of Ukraine and Moldova to the EU is part of a broader process of transforming the Black Sea region into an area of military security and economic prosperity. The progress made by these two countries on the path of reforms is visible, but this road is not easy at all,” stated Nicolae Ciucă, being quoted by agerpres.ro.

He added that Romania has expertise, knows what an accession process and also what deep integration into European bodies and narrowing of economic gaps with developed countries mean.

“I’m confident because both of the states have all the necessary preconditions for accession: strong political will, attachment to the European values, determination to make reforms, increased popular support for integration into the European Union and numerous opportunities. And the EU also benefits from the integration of the two states,” said the President of the Romanian Senate.

“It is necessary to work on several clear directions of action in support of the integration of the Republic of Moldova and Ukraine. Ukraine must not only defend itself, but also win the war with Russia. The two states should be supported to build their resilience and fight Russian disinformation (...). I believe that, beyond the support you receive from the foreign partners, it is absolutely important to determine the internal support and I realized your fear of propaganda, of weakening of these feelings and feelings towards the benefits that the status of member state of the European Union can bring. As such, all our steps must be taken in this direction and we must continue so that, beyond the decisions you take, there is this coordination for complementing the path of each of the countries.”
