The biggest problem of the current Parliament during the pandemic was that it failed to show unity and to contribute by the own example to the improvement of things in Moldovan society. It also didn’t manage to justify particular actions in accordance with people’s expectations, Nicolae Ciubuc, MP of the Democratic Party of Moldova, said in the public debate “How much and how Parliament worked for the people during spring-summer session?” that was organized by IPN News Agency.

“It’s easy to criticize. I convinced myself of this while being in the opposition, since last June until this February-March, when the easiest thing on the parliamentary platform was to criticize any initiative, no matter how good it was. We will continue to bank on unity, on work that is appreciated and is pragmatic from political viewpoint and will every time call on the political forces to sit together and find solutions” stated the MP.

According to him, party switching in the way in which it occurred now and in the past should be condemned. “When an MP switches parties because he does not agree with the party’s position, is disappointed and is not represented by this, the case should be based on a democratic process of expression of disagreement, of public appearances when the person dissociates himself from the party’s position and decision. But when you are one of the greatest defenders and agree with everything, it is condemnable when you choose to leave for such reasons as political divergences, especially when the leaving is fueled by considerable sums of money. These two things taken together are condemnable,” stated Nicolae Ciubuc.

The debate “How much and how Parliament worked for the people during spring-summer session?” was the 145th installment of the series “Developing political culture through public debates” that is supported by the Hanns Seidel Foundation of Germany.
