The suspended minister of agriculture, regional development and environment Nicolae Ciubuc said theagricultural  forecasts for 2019 are rather optimistic as there is enough precipitation and the sowed crops develop appropriately.

“We have over 300,000 hectares sowed with autumn crops. This is practically the same level as in 2017 and 2018. The state of crops is satisfactory and this makes us believe that the year will not be bad,” the minister stated in the program
“Important” on TVC21 channel.

According to him, if there is a constant volume of production, technologies and high-quality products, barriers related to export, such as bans, should not exist. “In the conditions in which we have predictability ensured by the Free Trade Agreement with the EU and everyone cultivates and develops according to a business plan and also plans the sale of products on markets, we should not have reasons for concerns. On the contrary, we should continue to manufacture products that are in demand on foreign markets and this will ensure our success,” stated Nicolae Ciubuc.

As to the potential possibility of foreigners buying land in Moldova, the minister said there are no such concerns at present. The Land Code that is being examined by Parliament provides that the foreign citizens cannot purchase land in Moldova. “At the current stage, it is too early to discuss such a possibility when the land in Moldova must be cultivated and used in the economic circuit by local investors,” he noted.

Nicolae Ciubuc also said the foreigners can rent land for a period of up to 40 years. Furthermore, they can concede land and can make investments without encountering problems.
