A new edition of the National Freestyle and Greco-Roman Wrestling Championship started at the University of Physical Education and Sport in Chisinau. Triple participant in the Olympic Games Nicolae Ceban became winner in the 97 kg class, IPN reports.
The wrestler from Stefan Voda didn’t have worthy opponents and easily won a new title. Alexandru Chirtoaca, who medalled bronze at the Baku European Games of 2015, emerged victorious in the 57 kg class.
The National Wrestling Championship involves over 100 athletes of different weight categories. The winners received cups, medals, diplomats and money awards. The awardees will be given priority when the national squad for this spring’s European championships is formed.
